Monthly Blog Round-Up – August 2009

As we all know, blogs are a bit "stateless" and a lot of good content gets lost since many people, sadly, only pay attention to what they see today. These monthly round-ups is my attempt to remind people of useful content from the past month! If you are “too busy to read the blogs,” at least read these.

So, here is my next monthly "Security Warrior" blog round-up of top 5 popular posts/topics.

  1. Obviously, “A Myth of An Expert Generalist” post wins with a HUGE margin. Nothing to say here – go read it.
  2. My change of employment (well, a change from employment to unemployment, that is :-)), covered in “Not at Qualys Anymore” wins the #2 spot this month.
  3. Why in the unholy name of cosmic chaos is this post here? :) “BlackHat 2009 Inspired – On Media Whoring” seems to have attracted a lot of readers, despite looking mostly like a rant. BTW, it was not – but it will only be clear in the future…
  4. I am no longer surprised that “Why No Open Source SIEM, EVER?” “rules the seas”, taking the spot in TOp5 this month again. The older inspiration for this post is “On Open Source in SIEM and Log Management.”
  5. Since Heartland saga is alive again (Zombie ALERT!!! :-)), the post “On Heartland VI” is in this month’s top. Read the rest of the saga coverage in that post.

See you in September. Also see my annual “Top Posts” (2007, 2008)
