Actually, I think the poster is completely wrong. He's not saying that security is useless; he's saying that it's not perfect. There's a huge difference. If security were useless, then firewalls wouldn't work at all; AV wouldn't work at all; IDSes wouldn't catch anything ... and so on. We use all these things (yes, and logs too ;-) because they do work, and they work pretty well. They'll never stop everything, but they stop a lot of things that otherwise would create a lot of trouble.
If you took this posting literally, you would take all the walls, windows and doors off your house because you couldn't keep out a really determined master thief. That's just silly.
