UPDATE: a LOT of fun discussion about this is here.

No more sad than when people started getting college degrees after a high school diploma.

It would have been nice if CISSP was gone. Unfortunately, it's not going to happen. This is just wishful thinking. The main reason for it is that CISSP now has nothing to do with security. Now it's an HR tool, so no matter how great that OWASP cert might be it will not relace CISSP. Just look at SANS certs... how close are they to replacing CISSP?

Yes, its "recruiter bait" value is undisputable...

So, I have a list of friends who are not CISSPs and if one develops a sudden interest in getting it, I know he plans to look for a job and it is time to invite him to join LogLogic (BTW, we are hiring http://www.loglogic.com/on-us/join-us/ ... no CISSP is not reqd)

Amen to that - "HR tool" is the best darn description I've heard in a while!
