Nobody Is That Dumb ... Oh, Wait VIII

Now, I know that my readers know and love my "Nobody Is That Dumb ... Oh, Wait" series (mostly here) - a new entry just popped up, courtesy of this ZDNet Security blog post.

And let's run a simple idiocy test: imagine you make a product "Anti-X" and sell it under the name of "Anti-X" (no surprises here). Then you OEM a piece called "Anti-Y" (which comes from a super-over-saturated market with all established players) - combine them together and - voila! - rebrand the combined package as "Anti-Y" (specifics here). The natural question arises: are you stupid? Sure seems like it - thus, a great motivational piece: if $108 million investment can be given to idiots, think how well a relatively smart person will do ...

So, the ZDNet blogger is right: The anti-spyware market that never existed is officially dead.
